Freedom House celebrated its Second Annual Benefit Dinner - Flying into Freedom. Freedom House had a lot to celebrate. The house opened, is currently serving survivors of human trafficking and have added a number of exciting programs to the organization. The Benefit Dinner included a silent auction, a speech by a survivor of human trafficking and music by Rachael Lampa.

Saturday, October 16 - Vagabond Indie Craft Fair

Freedom House partnered with a local artist called Julie Keener. Julie was a vendor at the Vagabond Indie Craft Fair on October 16th.

Julie found out about the work we do at Freedom House and generously offered to donate the proceeds of her sales from the day to Freedom House! For more information visit:

Saturday, October 23 – Si, Se Puede

Freedom House hosted a table at the 5th annual Si, Se Puede event at Catedral de Santa Maria on 1111 Gough Street, San Francisco, CA 94109 from 10:30 am until 3:30pm.

Tuesday, October 5 – Advocate Volunteer Training

Freedom House is also looking for advocate volunteers to get the word out about Freedom House and the need for housing in the San Francisco area. Advocate volunteers will be trained to represent Freedom House at various events. Thursday, September 30 – House Opening Celebration

Freedom House celebrated its opening on Thursday, September 30th at 6pm. We are thrilled to announce that Freedom House is open and celebrated with an event at 405 Howard Street, San Francisco. We enjoyed food and music!

Tuesday, July 27, 2010 – Spark's Swap for Good, 6-8 pm

  • Friday, July 30, 2010 – Launch of Sanctuary Spring, 6-9 pm

    Good Paper launched a new line of greeting cards made by survivors of human trafficking made by Filipina women. They donated all the net proceeds from the sale of the cards at this party to Freedom House. Freedom House was at the party to talk about the organization and opening plans.     August 4 and 12 – Housewarming Showers

    Freedom House wants to thank the supporters for organizing 2 housewarming showers in August. We are excited to participate in the awareness raising and fundraising event that will provide needed items for the shelter home.     Santa Rosa Human Trafficking Awareness Event and Fundraiser, May 16, 2010

    Freedom House has been invited to participate in the “What’s In Your Tea” awareness and fundraising event in Santa Rosa. The event will focus on the problem of human trafficking in Asia, Africa and the United States. Come hear about Freedom House at Journey Center in Santa Rosa at 6pm.

    Freedom House to Attend Freedom Summit's Freedom Run on April 25

    Freedom House will attend the Freedom Summit's Freedom Run to End Modern Slavery on Sunday, April 25 at Oak Knoll Elementary School in Menlo Park, California (1895 Oak Knoll Lane, Menlo Park, CA).

    1st Benefit Dinner on February 6th Was a Sold Out Success

    Freedom House hosted its first benefit dinner on Saturday, February 6th. Freedom House is grateful to all of its supporters and all those that attended.

    One well-wisher said, “It was an honor to have volunteered for Saturday's benefit. The collection of auction items was impressive and it was so fun helping out on the silent auction committee and meeting so many wonderful sisters! I hope that efforts to develop the vision of Freedom House continue to bear fruit. The evening was one of the most personal and transparent benefit events I've attended. I felt so much love and compassion from all the supporters and I felt so humbled by how selfless people can be even in the wake of our economic downturn.”

    Freedom House thanks all of its supporters and is planning more events for the upcoming months.

    Press Conference at San Francisco City Hall on January 11th, 2010

    Mayor Gavin Newsom, District Attorney Kamala Harris, Supervisor Carmen Chu, a survivor and the San Francisco Collaborative Against Human Trafficking co-chair Nancy Goldberg will speak about anti-trafficking efforts in San Francisco on January 11th at 9:30 am in San Francisco City Hall.

    Freedom House will have a table at the press conference event and will be available for questions.

    "Building the Wings of Freedom" - Freedom House's First Benefit Dinner, February 6, 2010

    On Saturday, February 6, Freedom House will host its first benefit dinner at Dolores Park Church in San Francisco. Join Freedom House for an evening with an instrumental trio, speakers and dinner.

    Second Volunteer Meeting

    Fight Human Trafficking Film and Discussion Night

    You are invited to attend a film screening and discussion about Human Trafficking on Thursday, December 3rd at 7pm at UUSM (doors will open at 6:30 pm). The film is "The Day My God Died." Freedom House will lead a discussion about the problem of human trafficking in San Francisco and explain how to join the modern abolition movement.     SJSU Human Trafficking Awareness Week Variety Show, November 10th

    Freedom House will be attending the SJSU HTAW Variety Show on November 10th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Students will be performing variety acts and raising awareness about the serious problem of human trafficking.

    Running for Freedom, November 15th

    Members of the Freedom House team committed to running a half marathon on November 15th. One team member says, “we are not long distance runners, but we wanted to push ourselves. This run will be a struggle, but it is nothing like the struggle survivors must face every day. Every mile we complete on November 15th will remind us of the journey we want to take hand-in-hand with survivors. We are also running to symbolize the final push as we rush to open the shelter home in a few short months. The need for shelter in the San Francisco area is urgent and desperate.”

    Chains of Freedom, Freedom House’s First House Party Fundraiser, November 21st

    Freedom House’s first fundraising house party is scheduled for November 21st. The party will provide information on human trafficking in the United States, current options for rehabilitation for survivors and the status of the opening of Freedom House’s shelter home for survivors. In addition to information shared, jewelry made by the founder of Freedom House will be sold to raise funds for the opening of the shelter.
