Freedom House was founded in 2009 by a small group of professionals answering God’s direct call to serve. All involved are passionate about helping survivors of Human Trafficking and Slavery to rebuild their lives through physical, emotional, spiritual and other practical help. Passions to help and willing hearts to serve were met with a shocking gap in services available for survivors of modern day slavery. These survivors had no place to go after the traditional six week stay offered by emergency shelters. So, after about six weeks, people with no money, little or no job skills or English language skills, and shouldering the experience of severe emotional and often physical trauma were left on their own.
At Freedom House we believe in caring for and advocating for survivors, rebuilding their dignity, nurturing their hearts, educating their minds, and encouraging them in Jesus Christ to victorious, abundant life.
Leadership
The names of our leadership team and staff are omitted from our website. This policy endeavors to protect the identity and safety of the rescued as well as the staff members. The following is a short description of the experience and duties of our current team.
Executive Director (Founder)
Our executive director is a professional woman with over 20 years experience as a health care professional, much of the time working with young women in compromised situations. Equipped with a Doctoral degree in Pharmacy and a desire to serve Jesus Christ, she started researching the area of Human Trafficking world-wide and was alarmed to find that no shelter existed in the local San Francisco area. With a commitment to her understanding of God’s personal calling, she began to research the problem, figure out solutions, and gather the resources to provide shelter and a new beginning for rescued former slaves. Her responsibilities include the leadership and operations of the organization. She reports to the Board of Directors.
